Flush the Fear is a group composed of people of faith, including various denominations of the Christian faith, the Jewish faith, and a number of other faith traditions, who live and work in the Missoula area.  Our group includes pastors, faith leaders, and lay people.  We have joined together in an effort to show the broad support for Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and Transgender (LGBT) equality that exists within communities of faith here in Missoula.  Our group will be a leader in articulating God’s justice and ministry of inclusion and hospitality.

Position Statement

All people should be free from discrimination based on their sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.  Faith communities value dignity, fairness, diversity, and justice, and we know our strength as a community is based on treating each other fairly and with respect.  Our group will be a strong and peaceful voice for the full inclusion of the LGBT community in non-discrimination policy.

This site is meant to be a resource to people on the issue of inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in non discrimination policy from the perspective of various faith communities.

This group is being organized by the following faith leaders:

  1. Bullet  Pastor Amy Carter, United Church of Christ

  2. Bullet  Reverend Jean Collins, Episcopal

  3. Bullet  Laurie Franklin, Lay Leader, Har Shalom

  4. Bullet  Pastor Jean Larson, Evangelical Lutheran Church

What does God require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

                     –Micah 6:8
